নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : খুলনায় খাসির মাংস হিসেবে কুকুরের মাংস বিক্রির অভিযোগে চারজনকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। এসময় হাত-পা বাঁধা জবাই করা একটি কুকুর উদ্ধার করা হয়। ১৩ ডিসেম্বর সন্ধ্যায় খুলনা পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউটের একটি পরিত্যক্ত ভবনে খালিশপুর থানা পুলিশ এ অভিযান চালায়ে তাদের গ্রেফতার করে।
অভিযানে অংশ নেয়া খুলনা জেলা প্রসাশকের কার্যালয়ের সহকারী কমিশনার আব্দুল্লাহ আল ইমরান, জানান, খালিশপুরে খুলনা সরকারি পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউটের ভেতরে পরিত্যক্ত ভবনে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে কুকুর জবাই করে বাজারে খাসির মাংস হিসেবে বিক্রি করে আসছিল একটি চক্র। কুকুর জবাই করে মাংস প্রস্তুতের সময় বুধবার হাতেনাতে চারজনকে আটক করা হয়।
আটকরা হলেন চক্রের প্রধান নগরীর খালিশপুরের ডলার হাউজ মোড় এলাকার লিংকন হাওলাদারের ছেলে অষ্টম শ্রেণীর ছাত্র তাজ, একই থানার বঙ্গবাসী মোড় এলাকার নর্থ জোন -২৩ এর হাবিবুর রহমানের ছেলে মো. আবু সাইদ, ২ নম্বর নেভি গেট এলাকার কুতুব আলীর ছেলে মো. সিয়াম ও দিঘলিয়ার চরের হাট এলাকার শোভন সরদারের ছেলে প্রেম সরদার।
ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত আরমান ও উৎস নামের আরও দু’জন পলাতক রয়েছেন। তাদের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা দায়েরের প্রস্তুতি চলছে বলে জানান সহকারী কমিশনার।
খালিশপুর থানা পুলিশের ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. আনোয়ার হোসেন বলেন, এক মাস ধরে তারা খাসি-গরুর কথা বলে অল্প দামে কুকুরের মাংস বিক্রি করত। স্থানীয়দের মাধ্যমে খবর পেয়ে পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউটের পরিত্যক্ত ভবন থেকে চারজনকে আটক করা হয়েছে। সেখানে হাত-পা বাঁধা জবাই করা একটি কুকুর পাওয়া যায়।
ওসি আরও বলেন, জিজ্ঞাসাবাদে তারা জানিয়েছে এক যুবক তাদের মাসখানেক আগে কুকুরের মাংস বিক্রির প্রস্তাব দেয়। তাদের দাবি, তারা বিরিয়ানি রান্না করে নগরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে বিক্রি করতো। এ ছাড়া কম দামে তারা কুকুরের মাংস সরবরাহ করত। নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট, পশু চিকিৎসক এসেছেন। আটকদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রাণী কল্যাণ আইনে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
