মোংলা প্রতিনিধি : আসন্ন দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে অন্যান্য আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর পাশাপাশি বাংলাদেশ কোস্টগার্ড নির্বাচন পূর্ববর্তী, চনকালীন ও নির্বাচন পরবর্তী সময়ে মোবাইল টিম ও স্ট্রাইকিং ফোর্স হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছে কোস্টগার্ড মোংলা পশ্চিম জোন। ২৯ ডিসেম্বরসরকারী ভাবে নিযুক্ত করা হলেও রবিবার সকাল থেকে দাকোপের বজুয়া বাজার সহ উপকুলীয় বিভিন্ন এলাকা টহল শুরু করেছেন তারা।
কোস্টগার্ড কন্টিনজেন্টের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা কমান্ডার খালিদুল ইসলাম জানান, স্থানীয় প্রশাসনকে সার্বিক সহয়তা প্রদানের জন্য কোস্টগার্ড মূলত স্ট্রাইকিং ফোর্স হিসেবে বিভিন্ন নোডাল পয়েন্টে দায়িত্বে নিয়োজিত থাকবেন। সাধারণ জনগণ যাতে নির্বিঘেœ সুষ্ঠুভাবে কেন্দ্রে গিয়ে ভোট প্রদান করতে পারে সেটা নিশ্চিত করতেও কোস্ট গার্ড কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। নির্বাচনে কেউ যেন বিশৃঙ্খলা সৃষ্টি করতে না পারে সেই ব্যাপারেও কোস্টগার্ডের সদস্যরা প্রস্তুত থাকবে সব সময় বলেও জানান তিনি।
কোস্টগার্ড কর্মকর্তা কমান্ডার খালিদুল ইসলাম আরো জানান, বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড মোংলা পশ্চিম জোনের আওতাধীন সংসদীয় আসনের দাকোপ উপজেলার ১টি পৌরসভা ও ৯টি ইউনিয়নে এবং খুলনা ৬ সংসদীয় আসনের কয়রা উপজেলার ১টি ইউনিয়নে কোস্ট গার্ড স্ট্রাইকিং ফোর্স হিসেবে নিয়মিত টহল পরিচালনা করছে।
উপক’লীয় এলাকার পৌরসভা সহ ১১টি ইউনিয়নে ১১ প্লাটুন কোস্টগার্ড বাহিনী কাজ করবে। এ অঞ্চলে ৫৬টি কেন্দ্র দুর্গম এলাকা হওয়ায় বেশীরভাগ কেন্দ্রই ঝুকিপুর্ন তাই প্রতিটি প্লাটুনে ৩০ জন করে কোস্টগার্ড সদস্য নিয়মিত টহলে নিয়োজিত থাকবেন এবং ঝুকিপুর্ন কেন্দ্রে প্রয়োজনে অতিরিক্ত ফোসর্ও মোতায়ন রাখবে বাংলাদেশ কোস্টগার্ড বাহিনী।
তাই উপকূলীয় প্রত্যান্ত অঞ্চলে একটি অবাধ, সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের পরিবেশ সৃষ্টিতে বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড তাদের দায়িত্ব পালনে সদা তৎপর থাকবে বলেও জানান কোস্টগার্ড’র এ কর্মকর্তা।
উল্লেখ্য, নির্বাচন কমিশনের নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী কোস্টগার্ড পশ্চিম জোন বেসামরিক প্রশাসনকে সহায়তার জন্য ইন এইড টু দ্য সিভিল পাওয়ার এর আওতায় ২৯ ডিসেম্বর থেকে ১০ জানুয়ারি তারিখ পর্যন্ত উপকূলীয় এলাকাসমূহে মোবাইল ও স্ট্রাইকিং ফোর্স হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করবে।
